Since 2008, BGC has been partnering with CKNW Kids Fund and the community to support Pink Shirt Day and ALLLLL efforts to put an end to bullying. Over those years, we’ve seen the general reaction to the topic of bullying go from “It’s a rite of passage, and there’s nothing you can do about it!” to a collective call to action from the community that we can do better. Another way of saying that is whether people are in their workplaces, community, at school, or living their daily lives, people… and most importantly kids… no longer think bullying is ok, and are better able to identify it, and do something about it.
During that same time, we’ve seen legislation enacted against bullying, workplace policy developed to prohibit it, and Pink Shirt Day celebrated and observed around the world. It took noticing a single act of kindness to start Pink Shirt Day, and it will take millions more to make the world the kind of place that is safe and accepting of all.
Here at BGC, we’re up for it! Are you?
