The Rotary Clubs of Langley are raising funds for youth initiatives and sports again this year at the Langley Hoop-A-Thon. Here at BGC, we are so excited to be supported by this fun basketball event!
How does it work?
🏀You can participate in a few different ways:
1 - REGISTER yourself as a Player or a Team and see how many FREE THROW baskets you can sink in one minute. Collect per-basket pledges or lump sum donations in support of you leading to the big day. NOTE: Donations of $20 or more will receive donation tax receipts.
2 - DONATE! Make a donation of a per-basket pledge or a lump sum donations for your favourite Player or Team and receive a donation tax receipt for amounts of $20 or more! Be sure to set the Tip amount to ZERO when entering a donation.
3 - COME OUT on May 10th to watch all the action!
🏀Players can register individually or as a Team of up to 5 Players. Each Player raises donations and has one minute to sink as many baskets as possible!
🏀PRIZES will be given to the Player who sinks the most baskets and the Team who raises the most money!
🏀MEET THE VANCOUVER BANDITS - some of these pro Players will be there to sink baskets, meet people and raise some money too!
🏀KONA ICE & light concession items will be on deck to keep everyone hyped and hydrated!
Last year, this event raised $25,000 (with the rotary clubs donating as well) for FIVE youth initiatives in Langley, and with your help, even more can be raised this year!

Have wheels will travel! 🚲🚲 Our #BGCBestie @Danpurdue and the Level 12 Team completed a workshop with DP World, where they built eight brand new bikes for BGC teens. These bikes, and helmets to go with them, will make transportation easier for teens as they travel to and from school, Club, and jobs (in style!). #OpportunityChangesEverything #UnbelievableImpact

THROWBACK!! We had SO much fun spreading kindness and celebrating Pink Shirt Day in February with our #BGCBesties at @cknwkidsfund and @londondrugs. Combating bullying also means spreading kindness where we work, go to school, and in our communities so that we can create safe spaces where EVERYONE feels like they belong. It may seem simple, but a little kindness can have a BIG impact.
At our Clubs, we see the amazing things that happen when we work hard to cultivate these spaces. Kids and youth develop positive relationships that are good for them, they gain confidence, make friends, and they learn that there is no room for bullying in their worlds. We think that’s worth celebrating EVERY day! #PinkShirtDay #OpportunityChangesEverything #LetKindnessGrow

We are SO proud to announce that our very own President & CEO, Carolyn Tuckwell, has been honoured with the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal for her significant contributions to the community and the profound and positive impact on children, youth, and families through her leadership at BGC South Coast BC (BGC).
Carolyn’s leadership was pivotal in the establishment of the Recreational Care Category under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulation, one of the most significant social policy advancements for children and youth in decades. This achievement protected BGC’s long-standing drop-in service model, ensuring that thousands of children and youth continue to have access to flexible, self-directed, and no-barrier programs during the critical after-school hours. Her collaborative, strategic approach with government stakeholders led to a policy shift that recognized the unique and essential role of social recreation programming. #UnbelievableImpact #OpportunityChangesEverything @BGCCan

BIG thanks to our #BGCBesties at @canucksforkids, who have generously supported our Club hockey programs for many years. Because of their generosity, countless kids have benefited from all the physical, social, and emotional benefits that sports has to offer—having fun while experiencing new opportunities, overcoming barriers, building positive relationships, and developing confidence and skills for life! #OpportunityChangesEverything #UnbelieveableImpact
